We are currently recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Technologist I at Central Regional Hospital.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide timely accurate results of laboratory analysis to the requesting healthcare provider.

Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Work in all areas of the clinical laboratory (e.g., Chemistry, EIA, Toxicology/Urinalysis, Hematology/Coagulation, Microbiology, and Specimen Processing)
Responsible for performing procedures, interpreting, and reporting results.
Maintaining, calibrate and troubleshoot equipment
Competent in reading WBC differentials and Microscopic Urinalysis and interpreting abnormal results
Ensuring quality control
Assuming the role of section leader in one or more departments as assigned by the laboratory supervisor, and for training other technologists in that department.
This position requires the ability to perceive colors normally

This is a full-time position and eligible for the full State benefits package. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, rotating weekends and holidays as scheduled. However, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs.

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess all of the following:

Previous experience using laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and terminology.
Knowledge of the variety of laboratory procedures applicable to the area(s) of work.
Knowledge of the field of medical technology.
Knowledge of the hazards of working with potentially infectious materials and the appropriate safety precautions to avoid infections.
Knowledge of the psychophysiology processes being monitored and how the medical laboratory science is applied.
ADA physical requirements will be discussed in detail during the interview process but must be able to lift to 50 lbs.

Management prefers experience with laboratory Information system.

Bachelors degree in medical technology, chemistry, or a biological science from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate degree in medical technology from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in a medical laboratory; or Completion of a Certified Laboratory Assistant course in medical technology or a comparable course and three years of experience in a medical laboratory; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
