    Summary
    You will serve as a ELECTRICIAN SUPERVISOR in the TEMPORARY SERVICES SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

    • You will exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in accomplishing trade and labor work.
    • You will interpret blueprints accompanying job orders and as required, prepare layouts, patterns, and sketches.
    • You will estimate and requisition tools, materials, and equipment needed.
    • You will inspect work in progress upon completion to ensure efficiency, economy, and safety of operations.
    • You will train subordinates in work methods, procedures, proper use of tools and equipment, safe practices, and other regulations and policies, established by the federal government, department, bureau, or installation.
    • You will perform other related duties as assigned.

    • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
    • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
    • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
    • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
    • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 general principles of ethical conduct at 5 cfr

    Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

    • Planning the division of workload among subordinates based on capabilities of assigned and available employees, materials and equipment, and taking necessary corrective action to avoid delays.
    • Requisitioning tools, materials and equipment needed, determining the most efficient use of these items.
    • Interpreting blueprints and preparing layouts, patterns, and sketches.
    • Overseeing the use of safety equipment.
    • Adhering to non-nuclear and/or nuclear guidelines, such as the Nuclear Power Manuals, Radiological Controls for Shipyard, Radiological Work Practices Handbook to perform duties.
