Job summary
Assists RN with daily care of patients including bathing oral hygiene feeding activity orders ambulation which may include use of therapeutic assistive devices proper positioning range of motion and special transferring as indicated Measures documents blood pressures TPRs Temperature Pulse Respiration I & O Intake Output daily weights other patient data as requested Documents accurately in Electronic Medical Record EMR Participates admission transfer discharge process supervision RN room setup orientation to room removing linen proper management patient belongings Ensures patient call light always reach patient answers call-lights promptly Performs purposeful rounding direction RN promptly communicates observations concerns needs patient family RN Documents appropriately Performs various patient positioning transporting duties require lifting pushing pulling while utilizing proper technique assistive devices Performs tasks related nutritional needs patients under direction RN diet review tray set up removal proper positioning diet selection Maintains skin integrity repositioning skin care Ensures special supplies appliances provided maintained TED hose sequential compression devices Collects urine stool sputum specimens performs point-of-care testing as indicated approved process accurate specimen labeling identification Maintains competency required Under direction RN determined site/unit requirements may be required remove IVs provide post mortem care perform bladder scans Practices policies procedures infection prevention hand hygiene knowledge sterile aseptic procedures disposal contaminated materials utilizing attire direct contact patients isolation Coordinates tests treatments departments for patients nursing units Maintains working knowledge diagnostic treatment departments facilitate scheduling tests treatments EHR system computer systems ordering supplies equipment processes daily charges related procedures EHR system Facilitates communications support patient care multiple-line telephone unit/site paging hospital information system Screens incoming telephone calls Monitors department office equipment troubleshoot minor problems Arranges repair major malfunctions Compiles necessary chart forms admissions transfers discharges expirations Obtains copies medical records nursing homes health facilities Verifies medical records contain complete accurate demographic information registration healthcare team Establishes maintains positive customer relations contributes harmonious work environment Quickly courteously acknowledges requests responds call-lights demonstrates phone etiquette fosters communication between healthcare team Must demonstrate knowledge skills necessary provide appropriate age patients served Demonstrate growth development life span possess ability assess data reflective status interpret appropriate needed identify each requirement relative his her age-specific needs provide described departmental policies procedures Age-specific further developed departmental standards.
