    Job Type Full-timeDescriptionMaintenance MachinistUnion Electric Steel Corporation is seeking a Journeyman Maintenance Machinist for our Carnegie, PA manufacturing plant.

    This is an hourly position in a unionized setting and applicants must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends, as required.


    Starting Annual Salary :
    $68,000 to $90,000. Qualifications Applicants will need to possess the following credentials to qualify for the Maintenance Machinist job. Journeyman papers through an accredited journeyman program such as that provided by the IBEW or similar accredited journeyman program. Or Associates degree or comparable degree from an accredited school or college. Successfully complete a maintenance skills examination provided by Ramsey or similar. Demonstrate a minimum of three years professional repair and troubleshooting experience or a similar combination of education and experience.


    Primary Function:
    To inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust and maintain all mechanical equipment in the plant

    Tools and Equipment:
    All power tools of the trade, chain fall, burning equipment, portable power tools, miscellaneous hand tools, measuring devices, etc

    Materials:
    Plant mechanical equipment, repair parts, packing, miscellaneous stores material, etc

    RequirementsWorking Procedures:
    1. Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be done. Performs layout work and makes sketches as required. 2. Inspects plant equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc. Determining the best way of making repairs to minimize interruptions of production.

    Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.

    3. Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles and lubricates mechanical equipment. Adjusts equipment for proper operating characteristics. Makes either temporary or permanent repairs. Assembles and aligns gears, bearings and shafts, involving the application of press, sliding and running fits. 4. Sets up and operates all power tools of the trade, when required. 5. Sets up and operates machine tools, such as pipe threading machine, power saw, portable grinder, etc. Babbitts and scrapes bearings as required. Erects scaffolds and performs rigging as necessary. 6. Refers to and interprets drawings in the maintenance and erection of equipment. 7. Changes, sets up and adjust equipment as required by current operating conditions. 8. Directs and assists in cleaning up area after repair or installation is completed. 9. Is on call and must be available at all times. 10. Is responsible to Master Mechanic for maintaining standard stock of maintenance supplies and equipment.
