    Suppliers Summary:
    One of our largest development and manufacturing facilities for Dometic Marine is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The facility develops and manufactures ride and handling products. They also perform hardware and software development work for other boat living and digital boat business.

    The product designer electrical is the technical owner responsible for designing, developing and improving a wide variety of mobile HVACR equipment for marine vessels, specifically the controls and electronics.

    The critical focus of this role will require expertise in the areas of PFC circuits, power supplies, & motor drives for the aforementioned equipment.


    RequirementsMain responsibilities:
    Design of innovative new controls and electronic products as well as upgrading the design of existing products (e.g. single-phase and three-phase AC electrical HVACR control systems inc. physical component selection & layout, PCB design, housing structure & materials, wiring diagrams, etc.)Prepare design documentation for new products and components such as PCBA engineering specifications, drawings, and test reports.

    Design circuits including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, and routing using Altium Designer (or an equivalent electronic CAD program), in accordance with Dometic and ISO9001 requirements and procedures.

    Participate in the full development cycle, from requirements analysis, design, development, implementation, validation, documentation, and ongoing product improvement activities.
    Ensure product compliance to relevant industry & governmental regulations / specification.
    Supporting Pompano team with respect to offsite resources - software, test equipment, etc.
    Support real-time firmware development team with microcontroller selection.
    Hold design reviews and conduct validation tests (environmental, EMC, HASS / HALT, etc.).Maintain Bill of Materials for electronic assemblies.
    Participate in "make versus buy" decisions for components and/or assemblies.
    Provide estimates of product cost and development effort. Participate in creating development schedules and then work to these schedules.
    Develop project plans, coordinate activities and report on project status.
    Work in multi-function new product development teams, including program/product management, manufacturing engineering, supply chain management and production.
    Interact with customers and suppliers and represent Dometic Marine.
    Assist in applications support and troubleshooting as required.


    Qualifications and experience:
    University or Technical Institute qualifications in Electronics, Electrical, Computer, Electro-Mechanical, or related Engineering disciplines.
    Minimum 5+ years of industry or relevant electronic design experience; candidates with 10+ years are preferred.
    Consumer electronic product design experience and new product development experience, ideally related to automotive, boating and/or safety critical systems.

    Strong proficiency working with suppliers and consultants on power electronics (specifically PFC, power supplies & motor controllers).Strong proficiency in Altium Designer or equivalent electronic CAD program.

    Familiar with HVACR equipment & control systems.
    Familiar with PFC circuits, power supplies, & motor drives. Knowledge of microcontroller parameters related to selecting components based on specifications and applications. Familiar with PCB manufacturing specifications, processes and fabrication capabilities, specifically as it relates to interfacing with external fabrication houses. Working knowledge of communication interfaces such as CAN, SPI, I2C, Mobus or RS232. Experience with designing for and troubleshooting EMC related issues during the certification testing of a product. Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g. SAE, ASTM, ABYC, ASHRAE, ISO, NMEA, etc.).Use of engineering tools / methodologies (e.g. PDCA, DFMA, DFMEA, DVP&R, DFSS, etc.) in support of the development process and in accordance with Industry standards & expectations.
