SENIOR TAX ACCOUNTANT
Our client, a leading full-service truck and trailer dealership, is looking for a Senior Tax Accountant for their Portland, Oregon location.
In this role, you will provide a wide range of accounting support as it relates to balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, monthly property tax accrual review, sales tax filings, and fixed asset reports.

Key Responsibilities for Senior Tax Accountant:
Research, consult and write memos on complicated sales tax issues.
Communicate and work with other internal teams to complete timely and correct tax data updates.
Recognize potential tax issues and tax planning strategies.
Research and discuss strategies and solutions with Tax Director.
Including monitoring statutes, legislative activity, and tax publications to stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations affecting sales and use tax.
Perform multi-state tax technical research for various industry related transactions.Prepare and assist with IRS and state audits.
Calculate quarterly estimated payments for review.
Keep track of all filing requirements such as tax returns, estimated tax payments, and required elections on a tax calendar.
Ensure all requirements are met in a timely manner.Correspond with IRS and various state tax commissions concerning filing or tax disputes as authorized.
Complete general ledger accounting responsibilities, including journal entry preparation and/or review, reconciliation and analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure compliance, integrity of balances, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting.
Review fixed assets/depreciation, prepaid expenses and accrued expenses for book to tax differences.Review the filing of property tax, sales and use tax, federal excise tax and other statutory filings.
Interface with external tax partners to ensure overall coordination of all financial accounting and tax reporting activities. Including preparation of tax provision and related tax workpapers for annual filing.
Make recommendations for changes as needed and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed and establish the proper techniques to discover and prevent noncompliance.
Assist Tax Director with analysis and special projects.Requirements/Qualifications for Senior Tax Accountant:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum 4-6 years of related experience.
Intermediate to advanced skill with Microsoft Excel.
Experience within medium to large sized companies that operate in a best practice environment preferred.
Knowledge of Federal and multi-state sales tax laws and requirements.
Strong oral and written communication.
Strong time management and organizational skills.
Attention to detail while at the same time able to understand big picture/overall strategy & business impacts.
Ability to consistently meet rigid and recurring deadlines.
Ability to interact successfully with various tax authorities.
Ability to work in a cross-functional fast-paced environment.
Preferred:
Strong functional knowledge of industry specific ERP applications and functionality.
