    Axient, Inc. is currently looking for a **System Engineers** **to cross train as System Safety Engineers** to support our customer located at Redstone Arsenal in **Huntsville, Alabama** . Axient positions are at 3 levels, (Jr. Level, Mid- Level, Sr Level/Subject Matter Expert).

    **What you will do...**

    **Duties include, but not limited to:**

    + Lead the application and management of a System Safety Program for one or more weapon/combat systems IAW Mil-Std-882E and DA Pam

    + Conduct system safety assessments and hazard analyses of hardware and software in a variety of DoD weapon and combat systems (missiles, rockets, radars, launchers, and communications) and related support equipment.

    + Prepare and/or update Safety Assessment Reports, Hazard Analyses, and System Safety Risk Assessments.

    + Prepare and/or review System Safety Management Plans (SSMPs) and System Safety Program. Plans (SSPPs) and related weapon/combat systems program management safety documentation

    + Conduct and/or review system safety assessments of new, updated, and/or modified weapon/combat system hardware and software, including change, waiver, and exemption requests.

    + Assess design and system test documentation for incorporation of system safety related requirements and assess test data to verify/validate system safety requirements.

    + Perform technical System Safety Reviews, using accepted Army techniques, and develop required documentation for Government acceptance.

    + Perform soldier interface system safety assessments on weapon/combat systems and support equipment.

    + Meet and/or coordinate with Government and/or contractor engineers, technical and test agency personnel, and Safety Office representatives to review system safety-related documentation, test reports, test data, and theater incident data, and assess/coordinate safety implications and risk levels to Users.

    + Review contractor documentation for safety implications and to assess risk levels and coordinate mitigation strategies.

    + Review and/or provide input to contract documents, such as Statements of Work and Specifications, for safety-related implications to ensure safety considerations are properly addressed.

    **Skills you will need...**

    **Minimum Requirements:**

    + **Must have an active and transferable DoD security clearance with current investigation at the required level. Must be able to maintain the required clearance**

    + Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering, Physics, or Science.

    + Jr Level Engineer will have a minimum of 3-5 years applicable System Engineering experience.

    + Mid-Level Engineer will have a minimum of 6-10 years applicable System Engineering experience.

    + Subject Matter Expert (SME) will have a minimum of 20 years applicable System Engineering Experience.

    + Excellent customer interface and communications skills, written and verbal.

    + Willingness to travel, up to 10%.

    **Preferred Qualifications:**

    + Master of Science (MS) in Engineering, Science, or related discipline.

    + Experience in the preparation, review, and input to safety related technical data packages and presentation materials for Government safety review boards, including the US Army Fuze Safety Review Board; AMCOM Ignition System Safety Review Board (ISSRB); and AMCOM Software Systems Safety Technical Review Panel (SSSTRP) and other safety reviews to obtain Government safety approval.

    + Experience in developing input to contract documents, such as Statements of Work and Performance Specifications to ensure system safety considerations and requirements are properly addressed.

    + Experience in conducting and managing a System Safety Working Group or Safety Integrated Product Team.
