    Must have WET UTILITIES experience (dry utilities, oil, & gas will not be considered)

    Responsibilities

    • Operates heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site or highway construction and paving
    • Operates heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life
    • Performs daily safety and maintenance checks
    • Cleans heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required
    • Maintains the equipment and advise supervisor of any requirement for maintenance or repairs
    • Maneuver heavy equipment into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
    • Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance
    • Uses equipment as appropriate to level roads and/or working area, ensure proper drainage, and develop proper grade.
    • Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating and stockpiling.

    • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
    • Properly follows all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment
    • Reports any problems to your immediate supervisor
    • Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and materials with shovel
    • Follows direction of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or jobsite
    • May be called upon to run small power tools such as jack hammer
    • Digs, spreads, and levels construction materials
    • Lifts, carries and holds material, tools and supplies
    • Maintains regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
    • Other duties as assigned

    Safety

    * Responsible for ensuring OSHA standards and company safety policies are complied with at all times including but not limited to operation of tools, equipment and machinery* Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately

    Qualifications

    • Considerable knowledge of equipment operations and construction and maintenance procedures
    • Must possess a working knowledge of grades and blueprints
    • Skill in operation of assigned equipment
    • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees and general public

    Pay Range: $ $45.00/hr based on experience.
