    Responsibilities

    ResponsibilityDescription
    Perform Advanced Diagnostic Ultrasound ProceduresIndependently perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols.
    Mentor Junior Staff and StudentsServe as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, providing guidance and support to ensure their success in their roles.
    Verify Physician Orders and ProceduresVerify physician orders and procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    Review Patient ImagesReview patient images prior to transmission to ensure they meet diagnostic quality standards.
    Assist in Departmental OperationsAssist in the facilitation of departmental operations, including inventory management, staff scheduling, and equipment maintenance.
    Adapt to Specific Patient PopulationAdapt behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction, and communication style.

    Requirements

    • Completion of a CAHEA-approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography.
    • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible (required within 1 year of hire).
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
    • Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty according to facility need.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 2 years of sonographer experience.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
    • Knowledge of anatomy and pathology of organs such as the liver, gallbladder, aorta, spleen, kidneys, bile ducts, and pancreas.

    This position requires medium work, exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Working Conditions

    Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area, works in an area where patients enter, works directly with patients, and/or works with specimens that could contain communicable diseases.
