    Pounds Transformation is a a private medical practice specializing in non-surgical weight loss and metabolic rehabilitation in a unique and sustainable manner. Our offices are currently located in Southington, West Hartford and Glastonbury. We are open Monday - Thursday. from 730am - 6pm. NO FRIDAY - SUNDAY responsibilities.

    We are seeking an energetic, compassionate and team oriented individual interested in healthcare to fill a position at the front desk. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: checking patients in and out of the office, answering phone calls. addressing basic insurance questions, collecting copays and balances, scheduling appointments, opening and closing the office. The primary location for this position will be in Glastonbury although having flexibility to work at our other sites would be a bonus.

    Candidates with a certificate in being a medical assistant are encouraged to apply

    Educational Background

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent: This is the minimum educational requirement.
    • Postsecondary Education: A certificate or associate degree in medical office management, health administration, or a related field can be beneficial.
    • Certification: Certifications such as the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) from the National Healthcareer Association can enhance a candidate's credentials.

    Relevant Skills

    • Medical Terminology Knowledge: Understanding medical terminology is crucial for scheduling appointments accurately and communicating effectively with both healthcare providers and patients.
    • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in medical scheduling software, electronic health records (EHR) systems, and basic office software (like Microsoft Office Suite) is essential.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary for interacting with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies.
    • Organizational Skills: The ability to organize schedules, manage multiple appointments simultaneously, and adjust schedules as needed is critical.
    • Customer Service Skills: Strong customer service skills, including patience, empathy, and the ability to handle stressful situations gracefully, are important for dealing with patients' needs and concerns.
    • Attention to Detail: Precision is key in scheduling to avoid double bookings, ensure accurate appointment types and durations, and maintain patient satisfaction.

    Experience

    • Prior Experience in Medical Settings: Previous work in a healthcare environment, even if not in a scheduling role, can provide valuable insights and understanding of the workflow in medical practices.
    • Customer Service Experience: Experience in customer service, even outside the healthcare industry, can be beneficial due to the transferable skills in communication and problem-solving.
