Job Description

A medical practice is seeking a motivated person to work as a full time Medical Assistant under the direction of the provider. The job requires good communication and computer skills. Paid health benefits, paid vacation, and a great working environment with friendly staff makes this a great opportunity.

Essential Functions:

Serve as a patient advocate during patient exam and treatment
Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height
Show patients to examination rooms, procedure rooms and prepare them for the physician
Record patients' medical history, medications, allergies, vital statistics
Ensure proper consent forms are obtained prior to preparing a patient for treatment
Explain treatment procedures, medications and physicians' instructions to patients
Under Provider direction, authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean
Fax referrals and imaging orders
Submit medication prior authorizations
Answer phones in a polite and professional manner
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

Previous medical experience
Computer literate and organized
Must be able to learn and work within an electronic medical record
Work well as a team and independently. A friendly disposition and willingness to follow through and assist others is a must.
Experience working with a multi-line phone system
