    Job Summary:
    Raytheon provides end-to-end space solutions – from ground control systems to on-orbit sensors – to keep our customers informed and ahead of the threat
    Each day, ground stations receive vast amounts of data from satellites in orbit
    Using complex algorithms, they process all of the bits and bytes received and turn them into useable information for the end users who consume this data
    As the volume of data grows, ground stations need to evolve and adapt
    In this role you will work onsite with a team of skilled Software Engineers developing Satellite Ground Stations Software in Java

    Responsibilities to Anticipate:
    Develop and maintain Java-based backend applications for satellite ground systems
    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement robust server-side solutions
    Modify and improve existing codebases for enhanced performance and scalability
    Conduct software design and code reviews, integrating best practices and innovations
    Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to Agile principles
    Participate in system integration and project milestone completion under guidance from supervisors
    Keep abreast of advancements in Java and related technologies to drive continuous innovation

    Basic Qualifications:
    Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
    Software development experience using Java at a subject matter expert level
    Experience working with the Atlassian Tool suite
    Active and transferable U.S
    government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date
    U.S
    citizenship is required, as only U.S
    citizens are eligible for a security clearance

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience with C++ and Python
    Experience developing software in an Agile and/or DevOps environments
    Previous work satellite GPS software desirable
    Experience with one or more areas of satellite ground system software such as mission management, planning and scheduling, command and telemetry, satellite operations, or flight dynamics models
