    Assistant Football Coach
    Grade 12 | VSC-UP PAT BARGAINING UNIT EXEMPT

    Work Location: Castleton
    Special Considerations: Working nights & Weekends football players.

    BASIC FUNCTION
    To assist the head coach football and oversee in one or more areas within the Athletics and Recreation Department. Needed to coach 100+ students.

    CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • To assist the head coach with managing the daily operations of a Division III intercollegiate football program under the guidelines established by Vermont State University and the NCAA.
    • Responsibilities include, but not limited to, practice and game preparation, recruitment and retention of qualified student-athletes, overseeing the academic success and student-athlete welfare.
    • This coaching appointment would coach their own position group on the offensive side of the ball and be responsible for a recruiting area within the northeast.
    • Assist in game management for various athletic events and contests.
    • Perform other administrative duties within the Athletics and Recreation Department as assigned.
    SUPERVISION RECEIVED
    General supervision is received from the Director of Athletics.

    SUPERVISION EXERCISED
    General supervision over student workers, and student interns.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Bachelor's degree in sports administration, recreation, physical education, or other appropriate discipline with a master's degree desirable, plus two to four years relevant experience in coaching, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
    • Background as an offensive coach is essential.
    • Broad base of knowledge and skills related to athletic facilities, management, coaching, recruiting and other relevant experience.
    • Two to four years of prior coaching experience.
    • Ability to deal effectively with a wide range of university students, personnel, as well as media contacts, facilities users and others outside the University.
    • Weekend and evening work are required.
    • Valid Driver's License
