    Description
    Charleston area organization seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to

    prepare and analyze the financial statements and analyze the financial impact of current and future activities of the organization.

    The Accounting Manager will also provide oversight and management for the annual budget process and annual audit for the organization in conjunction with an external audit firm.

    This role will oversee the day-to-day management of general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, & payroll and will report directly to the president of the organization.


    Essential Responsibilities:
    Manage all aspects of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, Reconcile accounts, and Initiate transfers between accounts.
    Oversee State and Federal Tax Reporting.
    Work with the Advancement Office to ensure accurate recording of pledges and gifts.

    Responsible for the monthly financial statement reporting for organization and quarterly financial reports that meet compliance; ensures the quality, accuracy, and integrity of these statements through the administration of financial controls of the organization.

    Ensures that the financial reporting is consistent with GAAP.

    Manage the relationship with external CPAs, coordinates year-end audit, conducts ad-hoc consultations, and presents results and findings to the President.

    Assists the President with budget process.

    Identities opportunities to advance the department/organization in practices and use of technology works with management to implement initiatives as approved.

    Have a clear and thorough working knowledge of the internal accounting software.
    Perform other duties as it pertains to the position.


    Requirements & Qualifications:


    BS/BA in Accounting or Finance plus CPA certification preferred; OR a minimum of 10 years of solid experience preparing financial analysis and management reports; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience with a solid fundamental background in accounting and accounting practices required.

    The Finance Manager utilizes knowledge of GAAP and best practices to make accounting decisions that have a solid ethical footing while accurately portraying the organization's activities.

    Mature judgment in business and finance matters is a prerequisite.
    Must possess knowledge of budgeting methods and practices.
    Interrelationship skills with constituents are essential, as are excellent computer knowledge and expert time management skills.
    Must be well-organized as the position demands initiative, drive, and ability to function without direct supervision.
    Must possess strong teamwork skills.

    The Accounting Manager is a representative of the organization and must approach all internal and external contacts with a focus on providing exceptional customer service.
