    Job Description

    POSITION/LEVEL: Mid-Level Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO)

    WORK LOCATION: Washington, DC (100% Remote)

    CONTRACT DURATION: 6 months Temp to Hire

    DIRECT HIRE SALARY: $100,000- $110,000 k

    Responsibilities
    • Produce error-free government IT system Assessment and Authorization (A&A) Packages.
    • Draft, submit, and manage IT system Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) to ensure weaknesses are resolved as per scheduled completion dates.
    • Create Waivers or Risk Acceptance Memos to aid in effective system risk management.
    • Conduct an annual assessment following DHS Information Security Performance Plan guidelines.
    • Review and update security authorization documents annually or as required.
    • Coordinate with customer divisions on compliance documentation and other needs.
    • Conduct Contingency Plan tests annually and keep the plan updated.
    • Perform system self-assessments for customer's Ongoing Authorization (OA) program.
    • Monitor and address Information Security Vulnerability Management (ISVM)/Patch Management.
    • Provide audit support for assigned systems throughout the audit phases.
    • Maintain awareness of inventory in accreditation boundary.
    • Ensure security requirements are integrated into the development cycle.
    • Use enterprise IA Compliance Tools per DHS and mandated standards.
    • Devise a plan to certify and accredit assigned Information systems.
    • Ensure CM processes prevent new security risks with any changes.
    • Manage Information Security Vulnerability Management (ISVM) Compliance for systems.
    • Stay updated on emerging security requirements or policies.
    • Participate in DevOps Sec requirements for assigned systems.
    • Support annual assessments following DHS guidelines.

    REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

    • 5+ years of experience in Information Security with at least three (3) years of FISMA experience.
    • Proficiency in MS Office suite, O365, and associated tools.
    • Certification in one of the following: CISSP, CASP, CISA, or CEH.
    • Specialized knowledge of financial audit standards, classified system IA requirements, and Privacy Act requirements.
    • Experience with NIST SP 800 publications and Risk Management Framework.
    • Ability to evaluate system, network, or infrastructure security controls against standards.
    • Knowledge of vulnerability scanning, operating systems, and network security.

    DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

    • Ability to provide security-related guidance and vulnerability assessment approaches.
    • Extensive knowledge of DHS security requirements, NIST publications, and security engineering.
    • Expertise in FISMA reporting, security architecture, and policy development.
    • Team player who excels in a fast-paced, accountable environment.

    EDUCATION LEVEL: Bachelor's Degree in an IT-related field or equivalent experience.
