    Position Overview

    Primary Function:

    The Assistant Dean of Admission (Communications) will report to and work closely with the Associate Provost and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid. The Assistant Dean will serve alongside other Assistant Deans as a member of the admission leadership team. The Assistant Dean oversees strategic communications and marketing out of the office of admission.
    Working closely with the leadership team, the Assistant Dean will shape the recruitment planning, and incorporate best practices within admissions, communications management, and yield strategies. The Assistant Dean will also have a deep understanding of admissions data and the technology associated with cutting-edge admissions marketing and communication.

    This position works with considerable independence and self-direction. Only the general direction and scope of the work to be accomplished are discussed with the Associate Provost and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid.

    Position Description

    Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement new marketing and communication strategies that align with current branding efforts across all levels of the admission funnel.
    • Identify methods to measure the effectiveness of initiatives.
    • Develop, maintain, and execute an overall admissions content calendar to capture print and digital communication flows to ensure brand consistency and messaging between all platforms and mediums (eg Technolutions Slate)
    • Collaborate with the Dean in the development of student search and other inquiry development programs to build our inquiry pool and the entire admission funnel.
    • Oversee budget allocations for admission communication strategies and contribute to budget management efforts for student recruitment initiatives.
    • Serve as a liaison to the Office of Marketing and Communications for web, social, and print projects, and external vendors for innovative ways to communicate with prospective and incoming students, parents, and school counselors.
    • Assist in training and supervision of admission staff. Serve as a model and mentor for new and current admissions staff.
    • Assist the Dean of Admission and Financial Aid with any task(s) requested or other duties as assigned or created.
    Judgment Required:

    Judgment and discretion as to the use of established policies are required to perform the essential duties of this position.

    Budgetary Responsibility:

    Monitors expenditures against budget; prepares budget data for review/approval by supervisor/department head.

    PC and Mac, Digital Scanner, Printer, Copier, Fax, Telephone and Voice-Mail System.

    Attributes of a Successful Candidate

    Education:Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.

    Experience:5 + years; plus demonstrated record of experience and achievement in a selective college environment, preferably in a role that managed admission content in digital and print.

    Job-Related Skills:The ability to articulate the values and objectives of a liberal arts institution; excellent public speaking and writing skills; strong organizational and analytical skills; experience and proficiency with information technologies, including database management and web-based initiatives; and a commitment to a private liberal arts and sciences education.
