The Office of Admissions at Black Hills State University is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Admissions Counselor. In this position, you'll be a key contributor to the recruitment of students at BHSU, making a very real impact on the university's enrollment goals and future successes. This position will be based on the main BHSU campus, in Spearfish, but may provide staffing and services at both the BHSU main campus and the BHSU-RC site (Rapid City, SD).
As an Admissions Counselor, you'll manage a designated recruitment territory based on geography, student market type or a combination of the two. You'll guide students through every step of their college journey-from initial inquiry to enrollment. You'll be a university brand ambassador, representing BHSU both on and off campus. Your role will involve providing accurate information about academic programs, financial aid, student life and other university services - and offering valuable guidance to prospective students and their families - to help them make well-informed college decisions.
An Admissions Counselor position is a combination of: recruitment, marketing, database management, counseling and student services, and other general office administrative and data processing duties. You will frequently work with: high school-aged students, their families, school districts and school counselors, other university departments, university athletics/coaches, and others. If you thrive in a dynamic environment, possess strong organizational abilities, and can adapt to changing schedules involving occasional evenings, weekends, and overnight travel, then you may be a good fit for this position.
