    Description

    Position in Rochester, MN

    Main responsibilities of the Associate Scientist-Virology:

    • Plan and carry out in vitro virology experiments with minimal supervision.
    • Independently create and clone viral vectors.
    • Develop engineered cell lines through genetic editing strategies in mammalian cell lines using lentiviral vectors, CRISPR, or other innovative platforms.
    • Collaborate with team members to push forward cross-functional scientific projects and implement new scientific techniques.
    • After the initial training period, the candidate will conduct experimental research with minimal supervision but in close coordination with the scientific team.

    Requirements for the Associate Scientist-Virology:

    • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Molecular/Cellular Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
    • Minimum two years of laboratory experience with a Master's degree, or four years with a Bachelor's degree, including at least one year of research.
    • Proficiency in cloning.
    • Experience in CRISPR for gene editing.
    • Experience with eukaryotic cell culture.
    • Ability to plan, organize, and multitask efficiently.
    • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
    • Strong focus on detail and organization.

    Additional Skills for the Associate Scientist-Virology:

    • Flow cytometry, fluorescent microscopy, suspension cell culture, lentivirus generation, SDS-PAGE and western blot, viral quantification by TCID50, cell assays, ELISA, affinity chromatography, complement assays, Prism software.
