- Assist licensed Speech-Language Pathologists in performing screenings, assessments, and evaluations of students' speech, language, communication, and swallowing abilities.
- Deliver direct speech and language therapy services to students under the supervision of an SLP, following established treatment plans and objectives.
- Lead or assist in conducting small group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based intervention strategies and activities tailored to students' needs.
- Support students in utilizing augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and assistive technology, under the guidance of an SLP.
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to reinforce speech and language objectives in the classroom and facilitate skills generalization across different settings.
- Help in preparing materials and resources for therapy sessions, ensuring they are appropriate for the age group, engaging, and aligned with students' specific goals.
- Monitor and document students' progress and responses to therapy interventions, keeping precise records and reporting findings to the supervising SLP.
- Implement behavioral management techniques and strategies to tackle communication-related obstacles and foster positive communication interactions.
- Participate in team meetings, including Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and case conferences, to provide insights on student progress and contribute to treatment planning.
- Stay updated on current research, best practices, and ethical guidelines in the field of speech-language pathology, and apply this knowledge to service provision and professional development.
- Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology, or a related field.
- Completion of a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) program accredited by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), or eligibility for SLPA certification.
- Prior experience working with school-aged children, preferably in an educational or clinical environment, is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of speech and language development, disorders, and intervention techniques commonly used in pediatric speech therapy.
- Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems and assistive technology devices for communication support.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, following guidance and seeking support from supervising SLPs as necessary.
- Reliable, organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks and duties in a dynamic educational setting.
