Summary:
The Center for Human Phenomic Science (CHPS) is a clinical research unit where participants are treated on over 500 different research protocols. Participants include healthy volunteers as well as a wide spectrum of patients including but not limited to oncology, neurology, endocrinology, pulmonology, infectious disease, and cardiology patients. The unit is sponsored by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Department of Health and Human Services. Nurses on the CHPS unit administer investigational medications in both inpatient and outpatient settings across Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine (PCAM), The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC). We are a complex, dynamic, and ever-evolving unit. Skills and qualities required to be successful in this position include flexibility, adaptability, keen attention to detail, dedication to lifelong learning, strong communication skills, and the ability to problem-solve issues as they arise. The CHPS nurses interface regularly not only with research participants/patients, but also with study teams made up of Clinical Research Coordinators, Clinical Research Nurses, treating providers, Principal and Sub-Investigators, and lab personnel. They are trained on new research protocols throughout the year. Infusion experience is preferred.
