    Special Education Teacher

    Location: Fairfield, Alabama

    Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Fairfield, Alabama. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing support and instruction to students with diverse learning needs. You will work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues to create inclusive learning environments where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, outlining goals, accommodations, and instructional strategies to support their learning and development.
    • Provide direct instruction to students with disabilities in both inclusive and self-contained classroom settings, adapting curriculum and instructional materials to meet students' unique needs and learning styles.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure that students with special needs have access to the general education curriculum and appropriate support services.
    • Assess student progress regularly, using a variety of assessment tools and techniques, and modify instruction and interventions as needed to support student growth and achievement.
    • Foster a positive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, self-confidence, and independence.
    • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to share student progress, discuss concerns, and collaborate on strategies to support student success both at school and at home.
    • Stay current on best practices in special education and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills.

    Educational Requirements:

    • Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education or a related field required.

    Certifications:

    • Valid teaching license/certification in Special Education required.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
    • Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including students with intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction and provide appropriate accommodations and modifications to meet the needs of individual students.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
    • Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with students with special needs.
