As a Principal System Administrator at Synergist, you will work on a specific project critical to one of our customers needs.
You will actively contribute on a team of software professionals working to deliver custom software solutions to the customer. You'll be required to analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications and software/hardware integration.You'll also be responsible in assisting both users and software developers with system control and access along with general problem diagnosis and resolution.
You may also find yourself conducting system performance monitoring and tuning activities as well as assisting with capacity analysis and planning.
Communication skills are also a must as you will work be working closely with non-technical project stakeholders and management personnel to communicate overall ideas, status, risks and issues.
Additionally, you may also find yourself responsible for managing a team of System Administrators or serving as a mentor for Junior Administrators.

Degree and Years of Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a technical field of study and a minimum of fifteen (15) years of related experience. An additional five (5) years of equivalent practical experience may be substituted for the degree.
Minimum Qualifications
At least fifteen (15) years of systems administration administering user accounts, server configuration and management, network management, installation of software, performing backups, configuration management and general system maintenance
Linux system administration experience (RHEL, CENTOS) and an understanding of fundamental network and distributed computing environment conceptsExperience with standard tiered help desk and escalation processes and the ability to perform problem identification, diagnosis and resolutions
Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills
Self-starter, capable of working both independently and in team environments
Proficency with a scripting language such as Python, Perl, Bash or equivalent
Experience with installing/loading and troubleshooting Operating System software

Experience implementing, troubleshooting and/or maintaining IT Systems
Experience with configuring and managing UNIX and Windows Operating Systems
Experience with installing/loading and troubleshooting Operating System software
Ability to write simple Perl/Shell scripts, and knowledge of Oracle (including installation and setup)
Experience with the escalation and communication of status to management and internal customers
Experience implementing operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance within an enterprise service environment
Programming skills in Perl and Bourne Shell or equivalents
Experience with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) authentication services
