    SUMMARY:

    We are currently seeking an Application Portfolio Manager to join our IS&T Application Services team. Ideal candidates will have prior experience with app portfolio management. This role is fulltime, working days. Open to fully remote work if residing in an approved state (see below).

    Purpose of this position: The Application Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the organization's portfolio of applications and software-based services. This role involves strategically planning, analyzing, and evaluating the software and application portfolio to ensure alignment with business goals and objectives and to reduce organizational risk. The Application Portfolio Manager collaborates with various stakeholders to optimize application usage, rationalize the portfolio, evaluate EULA adherence, and drive continuous improvement. This position requires a deep understanding of technology, business processes, application and Saas usage, and the ability to make informed decisions to maximize the value and performance of the application portfolio.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Application Portfolio Management: Develop and execute a comprehensive application portfolio management strategy, including the identification, categorization, and documentation of applications and software-based services within the portfolio
    • Application Analysis: Conduct analysis and assessments of applications in the portfolio to determine their effectiveness, usage, value, and alignment with business objectives. Identify opportunities for improvement and optimization
    • Portfolio Optimization: Develop strategies to optimize the application portfolio by consolidating, retiring, or replacing applications. Recommend actions to ensure the portfolio remains up to date, efficient, and aligned with business needs
    • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with business units, IT teams, and other stakeholders to understand their requirements, gather feedback, and prioritize application enhancements or changes
    • Foster a partnership with business unit stakeholders / SMEs and other IT Teams to build awareness of upcoming projects and solution deployments to ensure a full readiness state to support new systems. (Go Live readiness checklists, integration plans, security compliance readiness, infrastructure support requirements etc.)
    • Application Onboarding: Evaluate new software requests for their ability to provide the requested service meeting the requirements as identified by the stakeholders
    • License Assessment: Review and evaluate application license agreements for alignment with business objectives, goals, and compliance
    • Risk Management: Assess risks associated with the application portfolio and develop mitigation plans. Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and governance requirements and develop a mechanism to address compliance concerns
    • Performance Monitoring: Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the performance, utilization, and value of applications. Regularly monitor and report on portfolio performance, making recommendations for improvement
    • Budgeting and Resource Planning: Collaborate with IT leadership and finance teams to develop and manage the application portfolio budget. Plan and allocate resources effectively to support portfolio management activities
    • Vendor Management: Evaluate and manage relationships with application vendors. Monitor vendor performance, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with service-level agreements
    • Technology Trends and Best Practices: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to application portfolio management. Apply knowledge to enhance the portfolio strategy and drive innovation
    • Provides regular and/or off hour on call support as scheduled
    • Track and monitor application and software details, usage, and installation through the appropriate tools selected by the organizations

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems (MIS) or an approved field of study
    • Five years of progressive IT and/or business leadership experience

    • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working within an ITIL aligned Service Delivery organization
    • ServiceNow experience
    • Knowledge of engineering and design software products
    • Technical knowledge of software packaging process
    • Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies
    • Excellent analytical and program-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholder decisions
    • Project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently
    • Knowledge of IT governance, risk management, and compliance
    • Understanding of cloud technologies, SaaS, and hybrid application
      environments
    • Experience in managing vendor relationships and contracts

    Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

    • Overseeing a large and diverse portfolio and lifecycle ownership of
      medical and enterprise software
    • Managing relationships, improving support commitments, and driving delivery of 3rd party suppliers
    • Experience working in an enterprise-class standardized client environment
    • Ability to develop, communicate, train, and implement full process plans
    • Ability to synthesize complex and unstructured data to tell a compelling story to stakeholders and customers
    • Reporting and analytical skills
    • Excellent influencing skills with a willingness to challenge third parties/publishers
    • Proven record of learning quickly and affecting change on an organization
    • Proven ability to apply financial insights and draw accurate conclusions from financial and other quantitative information
