Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch), a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center since 1973, seeks an inaugural Deputy Chief Medical Officer toprovide strategic direction and oversight to the South Lake Union (SLU) outpatient clinical services, with aprimary focus of delivering high-quality patient care, promoting clinical excellence, and fostering a collaborative and patient-centered environment.

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization, providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases.

With a track record of global leadership in bone marrow transplantation, HIV/AIDS prevention, immunotherapy and COVID-19 vaccines, Fred Hutch has earned a reputation as one of the world's leading cancer, infectious disease and biomedical research centers.

Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch operates eight clinical care sites that provide medical oncology, infusion, radiation, proton therapy and related services, and maintains network affiliations with hospitals in five states.

Fully integrated research and clinical care teams seek to discover new cures to the world's deadliest diseases and make life beyond cancer a reality.

In March 2023, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center announced the opening of its new clinic building on the South Lake Union (SLU) campus, completing the largest construction project in the organization's history.

Connected to existing buildings via a pedestrian bridge, the six-story, 150,000 square-foot outpatient cancer treatment clinic features a patient-centered design, highly specialized treatment clinics and state-of-the-art procedure suites.

The new environment further advances the ability to deliver world-class cancer care and conduct leading-edge research.

The new building also expands imaging and procedural capabilities with the addition of a computerized tomography CT Angiography suite; a first-of-its-kind in the Pacific Northwest, Positron emission tomography–magnetic resonance imaging (PET-MR), and new biopsy services.

The building design includes three new floors that support the "care neighborhood" concept.

Each care neighborhood consists of about 10 "flex rooms" that are used for most patient care, including drawing labs, clinic visits, education visits and treatments.

This design aims to reduce the overall time a patient may spend in the building.

Additionally, the fifth floor features expanded and improved procedure and post-op rooms where patients can recover from port placement, biopsies and other outpatient procedures.
