    The Medication Aide will perform various resident care activities and related nonprofessional services essential to caring for personal needs and comfort of residents. The Medication Assistant administers medications as prescribed by the physician, documents the administration, the medication effectiveness, and any noted adverse reactions or side effects under the supervision of a licensed nurse.

    Responsible for providing assistance to residents with all Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Administer medications (oral, eye drops, nasal sprays, and PRN's) for assigned wing and treatments as outlined in the procedure manual or as indicated by physician orders.

    Obtain and record blood pressure, O2Sats, pulse, respiration and temperature. Report abnormal vital signs immediately to charge nurse.

    Responsible for restocking items used and keeping resident rooms, bathrooms and whirlpool rooms neat and tidy.

    Provide direct resident cares following the facility Care Plan Communicator (CPC).

    Assist with admitting/dismissing residents.

    Demonstrate personal traits of a high-level commitment, motivation and energy; team orientation; professionalism; trust; personal honesty and integrity; and a demonstration of placing others in a place of high value and treating them with dignity and respect.

    Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

    To provide for the day-to-day cares of the residents/tenants including medication administration in accordance with practice guidelines, Doctors orders, care plans, established company policies and procedures, standards, and guidelines; and current federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the campus and as directed by the supervisor by performing the following duties.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    All essential functions should be reviewed with the Director of Nursing upon completion of the 90 day probationary period and no less than annually thereafter to evaluate performance and establish new goals if results are not meeting expectations.

    1. Possess, maintain, and use a practical knowledge base regarding issues and regulations affecting the medication administration, campus and the Nursing department as well as the individual residents/tenants.

    1. Provide comprehensive care to residents/tenants as outlined in the Certified Nurse Aide job description. Complete cares thoroughly and in a timely manner. Follow specific instructions given in shift report, work assignments, work schedules, and/or as directed the supervisor and ask for clarification regarding procedures as needed. This assistance may be to varying degrees and with or without assistive devices including, but not limited to:
    2. Answer and assist resident/tenant requests for assistance
    3. Oral cares
    4. Elimination assistance including appropriate pericares
    5. Obtaining specimens
    6. Indwelling catheter care
    7. Personal hygiene (i.g. nail and hair care, shaving)
    8. Bathing
    9. Dressing/undressing including special slings, stockings, or other adaptive supplies
    10. Eating
    11. Eye and ear care such as cleaning of glasses/hearing aides
    12. Prepare and ambulate and/or transport residents/tenants including to/from meals, activities, appointments, etc.
    13. Lift, turn, move, and reposition residents/tenants, alone or with human or mechanical assistance
    14. Range of Motion and/or restorative care
    15. Post-mortem care
    16. Reality orientation and/or validation as needed
    17. Ensure resident/tenant rooms and living and working areas are clean, neat, and meeting the needs of the resident/tenant including, but not limited to:
    18. Make beds and change bed and linens and ensure residents/tenants have adequate linens
    19. Ensure resident/tenant water pitchers are clean and filled with fresh water and within easy reach of the resident/tenant
    20. Ensure call lights are within reach.
    21. Other duties as assigned.

    OTHER DUTIES

    Performs other duties as assigned or delegated by the Charge Nurse and Director of Nursing.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Successful completion of a state approved Nurses Assistant and Medication Aide course and certified by the State of Nebraska.
    • Must be on the state Nursing Assistant Registry and Medication Aide registry.
