- Lay out steel pieces to specifications
- Weld with precision
- Proven experience as a shipfitter in the maritime industry
- Knowledge of shipbuilding standards and safety protocols
- Ability to read and interpret marine construction blueprints and drawings
- Ship Fitting Duties:
- Read and interpret blueprints and drawings for marine construction and repair
- Measure, cut, assemble, and install metal parts for ships
- Utilize hand and power tools
- Align and fit parts accurately
- Inspect and repair ship structural parts
- Work with steel, aluminum, and composite materials
- Welding Duties:
- Use cutting torches effectively
- Accurately use a tape measure
- Layout steel according to instructions
- Properly wash off welds
