    Job Summary

    Minnesota State Services for the Blind (SSB) has been serving blind, visually impaired, and Deafblind Minnesotans since 1923. It does so with a staff of 110 dedicated personnel, over 300 skilled volunteers, an active State Rehabilitation Council for the Blind, and a host of community partners.     The Audio Quality Assurance and Control Coordinator ensures high-quality, accurate audio transcriptions by leading and managing the Communication Center's audio quality program quality assurance and control activities.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Implementing quality control and evaluation of oral reading and the spoken word, ensuring accuracy in readings and pronunciations to produce professional-level audio books.
    • Evaluating volunteer readers to ensure they are presenting printed materials appropriate to, and consistent with, the demeanor of the books and materials they are reading.
    • Leading the development and updating of the recording volunteer manuals.
    • Providing recording software technical expertise and support to Communication Center staff and volunteers.
    • Coordinating and conducting orientations and trainings of new volunteers.
    This posting may be used to fill multiple positions.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    To receive credit for your education and experience, your resume should clearly describe how you meet each minimum and/or preferred qualification listed, including dates of employment.

    One (1) year of experience in radio or television broadcasting, commercial recording, or live stage spoken word performance.

    Applicants that meet the above minimum qualification will be further evaluated on the following:

    Ability to compare text against audio recording to ensure accuracy.

    Knowledge of digital audio equipment and current software programs used for recording and providing print material.

    Knowledge of oral reading and vocal skills and vocal presentation best practices.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience conducting vocal coaching and mentoring to ensure high quality audio recordings.

    Experience developing training manuals and materials, as well as ongoing training evaluations, tips, and other communications.

    Knowledge of and the ability to apply technical information about recording equipment and acoustical issues to professional voice recording.
