    Job Description and Duties

    The Executive Officer is an exempt appointee and serves at the Fast Food Council's pleasure. Under the general policy and administrative direction of the Chairperson and full Fast Food Council (nine independent part-time Board Members), the Executive Officer provides administrative direction to a multi-disciplinary professional and administrative staff. The incumbent's duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Directs the day-to-day work and activities of Fast Food Council civil service staff by planning, assigning, and supervising tasks and projects to ensure program deadlines and goals are met.
  • Manages periodic public meetings, which includes: properly noticing meetings in compliance with the Bagley Keene Act; developing and posting meeting agendas; presenting information during meetings; coordinating appearances of speakers and presentation of materials requested by the Fast Food Council members to satisfy meeting objectives, reviewing meeting minutes for accuracy; and posting meeting minutes to Fast Food Council webpage. ??Coordinates meetings of subcommittees, conducted in accordance with the Bagley Keene Act, and as otherwise required to meet deadlines of the Fast Food Council and those established by AB 1228.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and expertise regarding regulatory, legislative, fiscal, and administrative issues that affect the Council.
  • Acts as liaison with Legislative bodies, the press, and external stakeholders including labor and restaurant operator organizations, and others with an interest in the proceedings of the Fast Food Council; oversees public communications of the Fast Food Council, including internet and other digital forms of communication.
  • Addresses complex program, policy, and administrative issues relevant to the implementation of the Council's goals and objectives; advises and assists the Chairperson and Board Members regarding Council policy and program issues; analyzes and reports positions to the Chair and Board Members concerning legislation that affects the administration of the Council.
  • Collaborates with division subject matter experts from the State agencies with an interest in the proceedings of the Fast Food Council, including the Labor Commissioner's Office and Cal/OSHA, for consultation and guidance with developing standards, rules, and regulations related to health, safety and welfare of California's fast food industry workers.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and reviews staff assignments.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and provides leadership to staff.

    Working Conditions

    This postion is located in Sacramento, CA.

    Remote-centered office with telework options available.

    This is a full-time, non-tenured position with the Fast Food Council, located in a temperature-controlled office environment with artificial lighting in a commercial office building. Incumbent will work at a desk and is required to work extensively on computers as necessary for the drafting of letters, briefs and other documents, and for research, email communication, file review, training and other purposes. Incumbent is expected to handle their own word processing and is expected to work all allowable hours as necessary to accomplish their assignments.
