    Inova Loudoun Hospital recently unveiled a brand-new Labor and Delivery Unit, Postpartum Care Unit and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Located in our new North Patient Tower, these advanced facilities will allow us to continue to deliver exceptional birth experiences for years to come. The Labor and Delivery Unit at Inova Loudoun Hospital has 12 labor and delivery beds and 3 C-section suites, supporting approximately 2400 births a year. This position is eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

    The Surgical Technologist 2 demonstrates advanced knowledge of anatomy and is able to anticipate the required instrumentation for each step of a surgical procedure. Can demonstrate advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the first scrub.

    • Expedites the operative procedure by anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
    • Keeps the circulating nurse informed of upcoming patient care needs.
    • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical technique.
    • Establishes and maintains an organized sterile field and applies principles of asepsis.
    • Demonstrates collaboration with other team members in planning/giving patient care.
    • Serves as a resource in at least 2 specialty areas/procedures.
    • Actively shares knowledge with staff regarding instrument sets/techniques and procedures.
    • Performs in preceptor role for new & experienced staff in the scrub role.
    • Provides working knowledge of powered instrumentation, video equipment, microscopes, and complex instrumentation, equipment.
    • Assists in the evaluation of new products and equipment.
    • Demonstrates responsible behavior as a healthcare professional.
    • Demonstrates a willingness to critique own practice and pursues improvement opportunities.
    • Participates in at least one unit-based committee/council and/or accepts individual assignment to work on improving patient care/unit-based issues.
    • Identifies variances from expected outcomes and responds to changes in patient needs.
    • Demonstrates appropriate use of emergency equipment, supplies, and resources.
    • Maintains sterile field during emergencies.
    • Supports other projects and duties as assigned.

    Position Requirements:

    • Required Education: High School Diploma or GED
      • Preferred Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
    • Required Experience: 1 year experience as a Surgical Technologist
    • Required Certification/License:
      • Surgical Technologist registration required
        • Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
      • BLS via AHA required
      • Preferred Certification/License: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) via NCCT
