Job DescriptionSalary:

About the Role:

A Speech Language Pathologist shall work to assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders in children due to disabilities or traumatic events.

Responsibilities:

· Providing therapy based on Individual Educational Program (I.E.P.) goals and objectives, directly or indirectly as indicated on the I.E.P.

· Providing consultative services to teachers and parents

· Planning for a speech language therapy schedule which meets the needs of students

· Planning for the use of funds appropriated for equipment and materials of instruction

· Completing screenings as appropriate. Assess all students recommended by the I.E.P. team

· Completing written assessment reports in a timely manner

· Completing and maintaining all appropriate paperwork for students in a timely manner

· Developing goals and objectives commensurate with diagnostic findings, observations, and consultations

· Completing an I.E.P. on all students determined in need of speech language therapy services

· Evaluating and recording student's progress on the I.E.P.

· Participating as a member of the I.E.P. team. Confer with parents, teachers, and the appropriate outside agencies

· Attending regularly scheduled meetings for the Speech Language Therapists

· Providing resource assistance in workshop activities

· Establishing positive public relations between school, family, and community

· Being responsible for the above duties, responsibilities, and others related to any resultant contract as determined by the Director of Special Education or her designee

Candidate Requirements:

· M.S in Speech Language Pathology

· Associate's degree for Speech Language Pathology Associates

· Current State of Maryland Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) License or Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) license from MDH (MD Department of Health)

· Current American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs)

· Knowledge of normal versus deviant speech and language

· Ability to evaluate students in articulation, language, voice, fluency, and augmentative communication

· Ability to develop goals and objectives based on student needs in articulation, language, voice, fluency, augmentative communication

· Ability to provide direct speech language therapy services to students in articulation, language, voice, fluency, augmentative communication

· Ability to screen and determine need for further assessment

· Ability to provide consultative services to staff and parents

· Ability to plan a speech language therapy schedule which meets the needs of students
