    Position Summary:

    The Regulatory Affairs Specialist is responsible for preparing Nutritional Facts and Ingredient Statements (reg sheets) for all products within the Bimbo Bakeries USA (BBU) organization, including private label brands and foodservice. The Specialist also coordinates packaging changes and maintains the nutrition labeling database and the Regulatory Affairs Reg Sheet SharePoint website. This position reports to the Regulatory Affairs Director.

    Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and proofreads all Nutrition Facts and Ingredient Statements for all BBU products.
  • Follows FDA regulations and BBU established guidelines in the preparation of labels. Helps to identify and resolve issues that fall outside of the agreed upon guidelines.
  • Verifies product claims with proper documentation and FDA required record-keeping.
  • Maintains the labeling database. Accountable for the accuracy of all ingredient, formula and product information data entry.
  • Maintains the BBU Regulatory Affairs Labeling Reg Sheet Library and the Regulatory Affairs Finished Product Files Library on the BBU intranet.
  • In conjunction with Regulatory Affairs (Senior) Manager, coordinates projects with Marketing, Product Development and Packaging Graphics.
  • Prepares nutritional information files for Sales as well as BBU customers. This includes calculating grain credits per the USDA School Meal (K-12) programs.
  • Provides nutritional information for customer surveys, questionnaires and product specs.
  • Proofreads and approves SmartLabel landing pages.
  • Proofreads packaging artwork and annotates needed corrections via remote approval site.
  • Provides nutritional and ingredient information for and maintains GB Health & Wellness platform. Provides support to Product Development teams on new products and quarterly Health & Wellness meetings/reports.
  • Assumes the responsibilities of the Regulatory Affairs Director during planned absences.

      Education and Work History:

      • Bachelors level degree.
      • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the food industry a plus and preferably in food labeling.
      • Knowledge of Food Labeling and 21 Code of Federal Regulations.
      • Familiarity with ingredients and formula calculations.
      • Strong computer, communication, and proofreading skills.
