Federal Correctional Complex (FCC)Old Hwy 75 Butner, NC 27509
Services will be performed in Health Services located in the Health Services Department at the FCC.

Clinical Laboratory Testing – Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist hematology, transfusion services, coagulation, urinalysis, infectious disease, serology, and chemistry. The nature of the work demands an advanced thorough knowledge of clinical laboratory sciences as they relate to the performance of laboratory analysis on human blood, tissues, and body fluids. A

specialized knowledge of clinical correlation which relates laboratory test data to human physiology, a broad knowledge of laboratory testing methodologies, laboratory equipment/instrumentation maintenance and quality assurance procedures is required.

Experience in performing external proficiency testing programs to maintain accreditation of the laboratory. Experience in conducting quality control procedures on equipment, reagents, and products by implementing instrument, reagent, and product testing systems. The contractor shall be responsible for, but not limited to the following tasks ordering laboratory studies in the Laboratory Information System, drawing blood samples on ordered
studies, preparing samples for processing, sharps accountability, maintaining logs and records, filling out appropriate laboratory request forms, preparation of the call out (draw list and labels), maintenance of a waiting list, restocking supplies as needed, daily maintenance of laboratory equipment, including advising the Laboratory Supervisor when equipment requires professional maintenance or repair,

biological specimen preparation and packaging for shipment to contract laboratories, processing incoming referral specimens, processing outgoing specimen containers to referral facilities, maintenance of laboratory logs and other records as necessary for complying with Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) guidelines, informing the Laboratory Supervisor of all information pertaining to the services rendered, i.e., specimen(s) obtained, and reporting any problems arising in regards to laboratory services.

Normally, the duties of the contractor would not require direct entries in the inmate's medical record. However, some information generated by the contactor may be included in the inmate's medical record. The contractor is responsible for providing technical and clerical support to the laboratory.

Qualifications:

The contractor must possess the necessary skills, abilities, and credentials to perform professional laboratory services as a phlebotomist or medical laboratory scientist.

All required certifications will be up to date.

Proof of any required certification will be provided by the Contractor prior to their employees beginning their duties at FCC Butner and every year thereafter.

Any expenses incurred in meeting these requirements will not be covered by FCC Butner.

Furthermore, all information listed below shall be provided prior to being accepted for work at FCC Butner:

Schedule-An anticipated schedule for the provision of contract services is 8 hours per day, Sunday through Saturday, including federal holidays.

The scheduled times to report to work will be mutually agreed upon at the time of award. The schedule is subject to change with the needs of the Government. The contractor will be required to obtain duty keys and a radio when they come on shift at their respective
institution. This anticipated schedule includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch break when working 8 hours per day.

If a contractor wishes to depart the institution for their 30 minute unpaid lunch break, they must notify a supervisor.

They may leave their duty station and return to their duty station at the end of their unpaid lunch break, not to exceed 30 minutes
