    SCOPE OF ROLE New Health MD is in search of professional, responsible, enthusiastic, and patient-focused Medical Assistant/ Phlebotomist to join our growing family. We are seeking a dedicated and capable individual that will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical clinic. As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization, and communication. The target is to complete all activities accurately, with high quality and in a timely manner.

    • Interview patients and document basic medical history
    • Organize and schedule appointments.
    • Update and file medical records and insurance reports
    • Arrange admissions and laboratory services.
    • Check with patients and type up patients' charts.
    • Assist during medical examinations.
    • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms.
    • Handle receivable and payable accounts and keep financial records.
    • Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
    • Explaining treatment procedures to patients
    • Preparing patients for examinations
    • Assisting the physician during examinations
    • Accurate and timely recording of complete vitals within EMR/EHR system
    • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
    • Performing basic laboratory tests
    • Instructing patients about medication and special diets
    • Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant)
    • Phlebotomy
    • Taking electrocardiograms
    • Wound care and changing dressings.
    • Administrative Duties may include, but not limited to.
    • Using computer applications
    • Answering telephones
    • Welcoming patients
    • Scheduling appointments
    • Handling correspondence
    • Returning patients phone calls before the end of workday

    EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

    • Medical Assistant Certification, Associates Degree is required, and Associates Degree in a related field such as Healthcare Management is preferred.
    • Minimum of 1 year working as a Medical Assistant
    • Exceptional organizational skills to ensure that exceptional patient care is provided.
    • Knowledge of procuring supplies, equipment, and staff needed at the clinic.
    • Competency with computer-based healthcare administration systems, like Kareo and MediXcel EMR.

    · Bilingual preferred but not required.

    LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS

    · High school or GED equivalent required.

    · Associates degree in a related field

    · Medical Assistant Certification preferred.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    The majority of work responsibilities are performed in an open office setting, carrying out detailed work sitting at a desk/table and working on the computer. Travel may be required.
