Purpose:

The Kitchen Cook prepares high-quality meals in accordance with food health and safety regulations and company standards. The cook's responsibilities include following instructions relating to the timely preparation of food orders, organizing workstations, and assisting other cooks as needed. You should also be able to ensure that the refrigerators and storerooms are kept clean and tidy. To be successful as a Kitchen Cook, you should be able to use various cooking techniques and methods to prepare meals that meet our customers' expectations. Ultimately, a top-notch Kitchen Cook should be able to handle multiple food orders without compromising on quality.

Primary Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Managing the Business:

The Kitchen Cook will work 8 hours per shift, 5 or 6+ days each week, based on occupancy and staffing demand. Holidays and weekends are affected by peak demand which means all team members must work together during those days to keep our operations running efficiently.

  • Preparing and assembling ingredients for menu items.

  • Preparing high-quality meals and food items according to company recipes.

  • Storing excess food at the correct temperature to avoid spoilage.

  • Ensuring that food portions and food presentation meet company standards.

  • Monitoring supplies and re-ordering stock as needed.

  • Ensuring that cooking utensils are clean before each use.

  • Cleaning and sterilizing food preparation areas.

  • Assisting other cooks to ensure that food orders are completed in a timely manner.

  • Efficiently resolving problems with customers' orders.

  • Ensuring that food health and safety regulations are followed.

  • Receive TOSHA certification to handle biohazards in compliance with proper training.

  • Interact with guests and ensure they are having a top-notch vacation experience.

  • Understand all safety regulations and operate systems in accordance with all safety measures.

  • Communicate with guests in a friendly and positive manner.

  • Host a safe and interactive environment that all children and families can enjoy.

  • Interact with team members and guests in a positive and friendly manner during all shifts, in all situations.

  • Knowledge and ability to comply with all company operating policies and procedures.

  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and/or assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand and walk for most of the workday.
  • Apply physical dexterity with some bending, stretching, reaching, grabbing, holding, and carrying.
  • Climb 3-5 flights of stairs, sometimes multiple times per day.

Education / Experience:

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Kitchen Cook experience is preferred.
  • ServSafe food handling certification is preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of cooking methods and techniques.
  • Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
  • Ability to work efficiently with others.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Reliable communication and poise.
  • Ability to deal with a diversified workforce.

Essential Functions:

Specific vision abilities required for this job include peripheral, distance, close, and depth perception and the ability to adjust vision focus. The employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and sit, use hands to finger, touch, handle, and feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb and descend numerous flights of stairs consistently. The employee is required to use hand, arm, and leg to reach, bend, push, pull, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds daily on their own. Ability to tolerate various temperatures while working outdoors. This position requires continuous ability to remember information.
