    Coil Receiver off Shift - Chattanooga, TN / Plant 1

    Role Summary

    Receives and inspects steel coils for quality, while ensuring all information is stored on the Daily Steel Receiving Report. Adheres to safety, quality, and environmental policy.

    Key Responsibilities


    • Receive steel into the system and record the material specification details into the Daily Steel Receiving Report
    • Unload coils from the trucks and place them in the coil field
    • Inspect the steel according to the Daily Steel Receiving Report and record pertinent information
    • Perform visual inspections of incoming coils
    • Ability to work under pressure to meet tight timeline
    Knowledge and Education


    • High school diploma/GED required, with technical schooling preferred.
    • At least 1 year job-related experience.
    • Can demonstrate work experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
    • Forklift and Crane Certified.
    Key Qualifications/Requirements


    • Familiarity with computers, including Windows programs and the SAP Interface
    • Understanding of inventory control
    • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Knowledge of parts' code numbers, proper rack, destination, standard pack and other pertinent information

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, manipulate, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, talk and hear
    • Employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
    • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
