    Description

    RESPONSIBIITIES AND DUTIES:

    • Leads the development and effective implementation of PTI Safety Policies and practices. Reviews and updates all safety policies annually.
    • Reduces injuries by engaging all employees in safety programs. Coordinates internal and external resources to ensure all employees are properly trained and comply with policies and programs. Ensures managers/supervisors are aware of their responsibilities for safety.
    • Leads the joint health and safety committees and the ergonomics committees, facilitating meetings and directing activities of committee members as needed.
    • Responsible for implementing and coordinating all emergency response measures. Facilitates necessary Emergency Response Team training including First Aid, CPR, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogen training.
    • Coordinates and/or performs air monitoring, noise level testing and other testing as necessary for all PTI plants. Participates in all investigations of serious injuries and near misses.
    • Creates, maintains and facilitates execution of action plans to ensure all safety and environmental requirements are performed in a timely manner.
    • Conducts and/or coordinates accident investigations, injury reporting analyses, equipment audits, environmental and ergonomic reviews of new equipment or processes and preventative maintenance inspections.
    • Provide a monthly summary of all safety and environmental activities.
    • Conducts Safety, EHS, 5S and general manufacturing related training as required.
    • Ensures PTI is kept abreast of all local, state/provincial, and federal regulations and changes to those regulations. Responsible for ensuring local permits are current and in compliance with requirements.
    • As the designated Management Representative, coordinates activities and audits to ensure continued compliance to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
    • Responsible for coordinating chemical (hazardous and non-hazardous) waste removal and appropriate record keeping.
    • Oversees Reach, RoHS, TSCA and associated product compliance data collection and reporting.
    • Other related duties as may be assigned.

    COMPETENCIES:

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills and interpersonal skills, including ability to resolve disputes and observe confidentiality.
    • Ability to use PC and widely used Microsoft Office products.
    • Ability to learn new software packages as necessary.
    • Ability to meet deadlines; accomplish work in order of priority; professionally maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions.
    • Ability to learn new duties and adjust to new situations encountered on the job within a reasonable amount of time.
    • Ability to negotiate conflict and maintain constructive working relationships with people at all levels of an organization (both inside and outside the company).

    Qualifications

    Education
    Bachelors (required)

    Experience
    3 years: Safety and Environmental Compliance in a manufacturing environment (required)
