    Under the direction of the Director of Central Billing, the Billing Analyst is responsible for addressing billing issues and prioritizing work assignments based on project and support requirements.

    The Billing Analyst will create and maintain comprehensive project documentation and develop spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document needs, and serve as a point of contract for Billing Issues, Reports, and Data analysis.

    They will be responsible for advising management on process improvement, and executing well-thought-out solutions to improve CBO billing efficiencies. This includes strategizing with other stakeholders on how to best align IT systems with CBO objectives. In addition to the above the candidate will be responsible for posting EFT insurance payments.


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Mentors CBO colleagues in the development of Cerner application and project management knowledge for successful completion of daily tasks
    • Be responsible for managing increasingly complex individual projects or work streams within the defined scope of the overall project
    • Configure, build, test, and support the Cerner implementation at Sturdy Memorial Associates and independent physician offices
    • Design processes with representatives from clinical or financial operations to ensure technology supports business processes
    • Independently manages your work to complete tasks based on clearly defined project milestones
    • Identify and escalate any issues/problems/delays that may adversely impact the project
    • Achieve in depth knowledge of respective Cerner application and stay current with new application functionality and enhancements
    • Coordinates all department preparations to support the adoption and implementation of software applications, systems reporting, and related software interfaces
    • Acts as a liaison with all the practices using Cerner software application
    • Provides Cerner system support training to the CBO & practice receptionists
    • Conducts regular meetings with CBO/receptionist staff to determine future system needs towards achieving greater efficiencies
    • Prepares and maintains documentation, including analysis, design, programming, standards, procedures, and user guides
    • Create and maintain Learning Home Dashboards, Training Materials, and Curriculum for CBO roles
    • Conduct trainings and perform all associated tasks within the Learning Management System to schedule trainings or document test outs
    • Maintain Cerner training environment
    • Communicates with staff and practices daily, makes decisions and monitors the progress of projects assigned by Director of Billing
    • Serves as a point of contact for CBO teams and Practice Registration Support in completing registration fields correctly
    • Coordinates internal resources with third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of multiple projects
    • Ensures that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
    • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives with CBO leads, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
    • Establishes and maintains relationships with all third parties/vendors for important payer billing updates and prepares SRs for Cerner when changes are required.
    • Posting of EFT insurance payments.

    Required Qualifications and Skills:

    • Minimum 3 years of information systems experience, preferably in healthcare and with Cerner
    • Medical billing background with an emphasis on payment posting.
    • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to workflow design, issue escalation, and other projects that support business needs
    • Experience managing multiple, concurrent projects
    • Proven record of producing quality deliverables and completing projects on time
    • Strong written communication skills, including project documentation and technical writing
    • Strong verbal communication skills while interacting with team members, end users and other departments throughout the organization
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
    • Ability to be a team player; flexible, friendly, congenial and enthusiastic
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Participate in on-call coverage as assigned
    • Physical demands include ability to sit more than six hours per day.
    • Ability to communicate via telephone, orally, and hear conversation more than 50% of the time.
    • Upper extremity demands include ability to perform data entry with repetitive hand movement, and visual concentration at video display terminal, to review and enter data.

    • Associates Degree Business Preferred
    • Project Management background desired
    • Cerner or other EMR Certifications
    Licenses/Certification

    EMR or IT certifications helpful but not required.
