DescriptionIndiana Masonic Home Compass Park is looking to add a Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) for Home Health. Compass Park is a vast 320-acre community in the heart of Johnson County adjacent to Indianapolis. It is a vibrant community through all seasons and a place of beauty, rich in tall trees and winding footpaths. This job is in Franklin, IN.
Position Summary
The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to deliver high-quality, goal-oriented therapy services in patients' homes. This role focuses on improving patients' ability to perform daily living activities, enhancing their independence, and ensuring a safe home environment. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with excellent clinical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Patient Care and Therapy Delivery:
- Carry out treatment plans as directed by the supervising Occupational Therapist to assist patients in regaining independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs).
- Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions, including exercises, activities, and adaptive techniques to improve function, mobility, and strength.
- Teach patients and caregivers the use of assistive devices and adaptive equipment to optimize recovery and safety.
- Monitor and report patient progress and responses to treatments to the Occupational Therapist, making recommendations for adjustments as necessary.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the supervising Occupational Therapist and interdisciplinary team members to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to provide education and updates regarding treatment plans and goals.
- Address patient and caregiver concerns with empathy and professionalism, promoting a positive therapeutic relationship.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient interactions, treatments, and progress notes in compliance with agency policies and state/federal regulations.
- Submit required documentation promptly to ensure continuity of care.
- Adhere to agency protocols and compliance standards, including Medicare and Medicaid guidelines.
- Professional Development:
- Stay up-to-date on advancements in occupational therapy techniques, home health practices, and adaptive equipment.
- Participate in continuing education opportunities to maintain licensure and certifications.
- Contribute to the agency's quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives and other clinical programs as needed.
Physical Therapist Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
- Active licensure in the state(s) of practice.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a clinical or home health setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, and home health care practices.
- Proficiency in documentation and use of electronic medical records (EMR).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt to diverse home environments.
