- Under limited supervision, assist mechanical engineers in the planning and testing of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
- Test complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions.
- Devise, fabricate, and assemble new or modified mechanical components or assemblies.
- Review project instructions and specifications to identify, modify and plan fabrication requirements, as well as assembly and testing requirements.
- Record test procedures and results using numerical and graphical data.
- Help prepare proposals and cost estimates.
- Assist in establishing work load completion dates.
- Assist engineering in the planning and testing of electrical/electronic components using advanced testing equipment including:
- Oscilloscopes
- Volt-ohm meter
- Dielectric tester
- Surge tester
- Electrostatic discharge tester
- Data acquisition equipment
- Programmable power supplies
- Thermal test chambers
- High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two year degree or equivalent is preferred.
- 5 years related experience.
- Experienced with setup and testing of HVAC units and sub-assemblies
- Gas furnace testing
- Knowledge of HVACR operation principles
- Familiar with setup of electronic and electromechanical tests setups required
- Basic understanding and demonstrated experience with voltage/current/resistance and use of ohms law.
- Record test procedures and results, numerical and graphical data utilizing Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Expert knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- EPA Certification for refrigerant handling preferred
- Troubleshoot and repair of electronic/electrical circuits and controls.
- Ability to read and understand electronic control schematics.
- Generate wiring diagrams for test setups and test fixtures.
