    Description

    The Staff Pad has partnered with a community health center south of Tucson, Arizona. We are seeking a Medical Billing Representative - Business Office Assistant to join our client's organization that has been recognized as a "National Quality Leader" by the US Department of Health and Human Services. As a Medical Billing Representative - Business Office Assistant, you will be responsible for providing staff support to the Supervisor of Billing/Business Office in maintaining and operations the firm's business systems. You will also liaise with Team Leads and Medical Billing Representatives in a collaborative effort.

    Responsibilities:

    • Respond to requests for assistance from colleagues in a positive and helpful manner.
    • Process all insurance claims promptly, utilizing electronic and paper claims.
    • Ensure professional and courteous treatment of staff and patients as necessary, optimizing customer service.
    • Enter insurance payments into patient accounts and process benefit correspondence, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
    • Monitor and follow up on accounts until balances are resolved or turned over to the self-pay portion.
    • Review credit accounts and initiate refunds to insurance companies or patients as required.
    • Print daily reports, verify payment entry, balance at day end, and post batches on a daily basis.
    • Prioritize work received and complete tasks on time.
    • Handle correspondence from insurance companies, answer telephone calls, screen inquiries, and provide information as needed.
    • Identify and correct billing errors.
    • Provide support to the Patient Accounts Specialist when necessary.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient accounts.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.


    Requirements

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • One or more years of experience in medical office environment is preferred.
    • Bi-lingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
    • Knowledge of medical billing practices and clinic policies and procedures preferred.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS coding preferred.
    • Knowledge of insurance company operating procedures preferred.
