Clinical Assistant - Littleton, CO, United States - Portercare Adventist Health System
Description
The Physician Assistant (PA) supports the clinical operation of the AdventHealth Rocky Mountain Region Cardiovascular Service Line with a primary focus on clinical services in the inpatient and outpatient setting at our Littleton facility.
Pre-operative admission, consultation, evaluation and medical optimizationIntra-operative 1st and 2nd assistance
Post-operative ICU and floor patient care and discharge
Assist with Cardiothoracic Surgery including CABG, Valve Repair and Replacement, Aortic Procedures, Thoracotomy, Lung Resections, and Central/Peripheral Vascular repair
Conduit Harvest, including greater and lesser saphenous veins and radial artery, Sternotomy & Sternal closure, ECMO initiation/weaning and cannulation/decannulation techniques
Insertion of percutaneous/open chest tubes, arterial lines & femoral/axillary IABP, Fem/SC/IJ Central venous access, PA catheter placement, transvenous pacer wires, and dialysis catheters o Documenting, coding and completing diagnosis of patient's condition to facilitate appropriate insurance reimbursement
Pre & post Operative clinic
Out-of-hospital patient clinical phone call management & out-of-hospital operative call-in.
Gather relevant health & medical history
Performance of physical examinations
Collection, interpretation & recording of clinical data
Ordering/specimen collection for/interpretation of all relevant laboratory/microbiological tests;
Ordering/interpretation of all relevant radiologic/US/MRI/NM studies
Ordering/performance of/interpretation of cardiac diagnostic testing
Consultation/referral to other health professionals & community agencies
Provide relevant patient education and counseling regarding heath status, test results, disease process and discharge planning
Assessing clinical factors including, but not limited to, immunosuppression complications, drug toxicity, infections complications and risk rejection
Participate in the preparation of action plans in response to recommendations for improvement and deficiencies identified by regulatory agencies
Participate in mock surveys and self-assessments, focusing on continual readiness
Actively participate in outstanding customer service and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all with administrative guidance and physician collaboration
Surgical 1st assistance training & proficiency
Robotic surgical training
Ability to self-direct and work without direct supervision
Conduit Vein harvesting open/endoscopic
Conduit Arterial harvesting open
Computer skills & ability to work effectively across multiple electronic medical record platforms (MS Office Platform)
Strong organizational, problem-solving and customer service skills, with a commitment to quality & safety
Graduate of a physician assistant program approved by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)
Minimum of two years post-graduation clinical experience or one-year post-graduate surgical residency training experience
Licensure, Certification OR
