    The HSE Manager plans, implements, coordinates and maintains HSE program to eliminate occupational injuries, illness, deaths and financial losses. Responsible for heath and environmental programs to ensure compliance with organizational policies, local, state and federal regulations across the organization.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Provide Industrial Hygiene, General Industrial Safety and Ergonomics leadership for multiple locations, including manufacturing and R&D environments.
    • Inspection of chemical processes, hazardous waste areas, and universal waste areas.
    • Coordinate transportation for hazardous waste and empty drum recycling as needed.
    • Prepare, revise, and update health and safety programs and procedures to meet changes in the organization and regulations.
    • Serves as liaison between the organization and regulatory agencies concerned with safety and/or environmental control and provide relevant expertise as company expert on HSE topics impacting product portfolio (e.g., REACH, CLP, Food Contact, Biocides, SDS, SVHC, RoHS, WEEE).
    • Lead internal and external HSE audits.
    • Assess and approve HSE risk for existing and new product introductions.
    • Prepare customer letters to address compliance with standards based on product assessment.
    • Accountable for tools, processes, and deliverables in the subject areas of emerging issues (regulatory tracking), product compliance, customer support, and manufacturing operations.

    • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
    • Identify and appraise conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluate potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents.
    • Conduct or direct research studies to identify hazards and evaluate loss producing potential of given system, operational or process.
    • Develop accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of organization.
    • Maintain liaison with outside organizations, such as fire department, mutual aid societies, and rescue teams to assure information exchange and mutual assistance.
    • Devise methods to evaluate safety program and conduct or direct evaluations.
    • Evaluate technical and scientific publications concerned with safety management and participate in activities of related professional organizations to update knowledge of safety program development.
    • Compile analysis and interpret statistical data related to exposure factors concerning occupational illness and accidents and prepare reports.
    • Stores and retrieves statistical data, using computer.
    • Enter data covering Headcount, Safety Meeting and injury reports, etc in the Company tracking system.
    • Oversees planning, development and implementation of the organization's health, safety and environmental programs with all federal, state and local regulations.
    • Chairs, motivates and is responsible for the overall effectiveness of the Safety Committee.
    • Trains others as required to ensure all personnel are current in core competencies.
    • Maintain Chemical Inventory and MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets)
    • Reviews and or develops JSA's (Job Safety Analysis), enforces and evaluates effectiveness.

    Environmental responsibilities:

    • Ensures compliance with applicable air, wastewater, solid/hazardous waste for State & Federal regulations.
    • Administer departmental Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) compliance program.
    • Ensure permit applications, new or renewals, are completed accurately and submitted on time.
    • Ensure required lab analyses are done in a timely manner when needed.
    • Product Stewardship of products: Packaging waste in Europe and Asia, SDS maintenance, hazards classification.

    Education, Skills & Experience:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Three to Five years general health, safety & Environmental experience
    • Good case management skills
    • Performance of Regulatory Audits against OSH, EPA
    • Familiarly with Company Policies and procedures
    • Professional attitude
    • Proficient in Word, Outlook and Excel
    • First Aid / First Responder Certified
    • Facility Environmental Management
    • Hazard Identification training
    • Root Cause Analysis Certification or training

    Preferred

    • Health or Hygiene Certification
    • Certified Safety Professional or ASP working towards CSP
