    Job Summary

    Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Advanced Systems Administrator to join our team of qualified, diverse professionals.

    The Advanced Systems Administrator will work collaboratively within a team, focusing on the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of system hardware, software, and related infrastructure. The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, from supporting clients in resolving system or IT operation challenges to collaborating with the information security team and providing system-related solutions.

    Skills / Experience Required

    • 6+ years professional IT experience providing services consistent with those outlined in this description
    • SCCM/MECM, desired
    • SCOM, desired
    • VDI, desired
    • Management and/or Team Lead experience desired
    • Operating System Management: Oversee UNIX, Redhat Linux, Solaris, Windows, VMware, Nutanix, and other virtualized systems, ensuring timely patches, upgrades, and compliance with Information Assurance (IA) requirements
    • System Maintenance: Ensure peak performance and accessibility of IT servers/systems for end-users
    • System Installation: Install or rebuild servers, configuring hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and storage in line with standards and operational needs
    • System Monitoring: Conduct daily system monitoring, ensuring the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, and systems Review system and application logs and verify backup completions.
    • Tier III Support: Provide advanced support, investigating and troubleshooting system issues
    • System Recovery: Repair and recover systems from hardware or software failures, coordinating with relevant stakeholders
    • Storage Management: Manage space on network drives and monitor system performance, proposing enhancements to improve migration
    • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize system performance, conducting hardware upgrades and resource optimization as required
    • Security Compliance: Ensure STIGs are applied to systems in an efficient and timely manner

    Education / Certifications

    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or Computer Engineering degree or degree in Mathematics or Engineering is strongly preferred; however, relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal education for this position
    • DOD IAT II certification required for hire (e.g., Security+)
    • Plus, candidate must obtain a DODM advanced level certification within 8 months (Advanced: CASP+ or CCSP)

    Security Clearance

    Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense (DoD) active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

    Physical Requirements

    Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and may include lifting thirty pounds, as necessary.
