    Description

    Job Summary:


    A Material Handler is responsible for loading I unloading hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals from and onto tank trucks, box vans, railcars, and other shipping containers.

    Material Handlers are responsible for all facility housekeeping during their shifts. Material Handlers may be asked to help with product packaging tasks, equipment maintenance, and monitoring various process parameters.

    A Material Handler may, from time to time, also be asked to take physical inventories of various plant supplies, raw materials, spare parts, and/or finished products.

    Material Handlers should also be able to collect samples and complete certain plant logs, shipping/receiving documents, material transfer tickets, and other plant records.


    An outstanding Material Handler will take pride in the safe and efficient manner in which they complete those tasks assigned to them by their Lead Operator, Plant Supervisor, or Plant Manager.

    They will be eager to acquire additional skills through ongoing training.


    Duties and Responsibilities:


    • Daily involvement with material handling activities such as loading and unloading tankers, box vans, and other transportation vessels.
    • Plant housekeeping activities including but not limited to cleaning, painting, and lawn maintenance (mowing/weed eating).
    • Conducting physical inventory
    • Complete documents
    • Collect samples
    • Assist plant Operations personnel as instructed.
    • Abide by the principles in the EHS&S mission statement.
    • Responsibilities and training outlined in the RCRA Hazwaste Job Duties Matrix (see attachment)
    • Pass the fit for duty requirements (see attachment)
    • Abide by ORG Chem Group's quality policy.

    Skills and Education Requirements:


    • No previous material-handling experience required
    • Ability to effectively read, write, and understand English
    • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (e.g., addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, basic fractions and proportions)
    • Ability to complete any additional training required for specific project and/or processes
