Respiratory Therapist - Day Shift

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Day shift; 3 x 12-hour shifts.

Job Description

The Respiratory Therapist provides quality patient care by delivering intensive respiratory care and facilitating patient transport according to medical prescriptions, within the professional scope of practice and with minimal supervision. This role includes evaluating patients and recommending treatment plans while providing education prior to discharge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct physician-prescribed treatments, operating various ventilatory equipment, invasive and non-invasive devices, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
• Perform chest physiotherapy and suctioning by various methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal).
• Monitor oxygenation levels and capnography according to policy.
• Review patient's chest x-rays to assess needs for further evaluation.
• Perform 12-Lead EKG and basic arrhythmia recognition.
• Conduct pulmonary function studies and assist in procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
• Administer tracheostomy care and manage endotracheal tube procedures.
• Perform arterial punctures and monitor ventilation efficiency.
• Engage in cardiopulmonary resuscitation in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Record treatments and patient responses accurately in medical records and communicate with physicians regarding therapy effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate respiratory therapy charging and participate in equipment maintenance and repair.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license.
• Experience in a clinical setting with respiratory care and procedures.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
