    Position Summary

    1Performs complex account reconciliations and associated financial analysis, technical accounting research to determine proper classification of expenses, and prepares various financial reports. Creates project funding codes for accurate booking of project expenses. Reviews capital expenses to develop asset management records based on asset classes and allocates costs, accordingly. Reviews and prepares invoices for proper assessment and payment for cost of utility transmission services. Tracks projects and initiatives, coordinates communication of timelines and milestones and monitors adherence to timelines and milestones. Prepares, analyzes and distributes financial reports and expense analysis to determine present and future budgeting, variance reasoning and budget justifications. Responsibilities may include working in departments such as Controller or Finance.

    Tasks and Responsibilities
    • Prepares, analyzes and distributes various financial and statistical reports, to include variance explanations utilizing cost tracing and root-cause analysis.
    • Reviews and determines proper classification of expenses to operations & maintenance and/or capital cost categories.
    • Creates project funding codes at project creation, maintains funding codes through completion of project and assists with the settling of project costs at completion to an asset management record.
    • Identifies asset classes for assets created or improved during construction and accurately assigns the acquisition value of each asset as part of the creation of an asset record.
    • Prepares reports, schedules and supporting documents for monthly and annual asset reporting.
    • Tracks projects and initiatives and coordinates internal communication of timelines and milestones to ensure projects and initiatives are progressing. When needed, makes recommendations to realign to timelines and milestones.
    • Reviews & prepares internal and external invoices to ensure company is correctly paying and invoicing for the cost of utility transmission services rendered and delivered.
    • Assists with month end close processes and facilitates processing of financial transactions.
    • Performs reconciliations to ensure accuracy of data
    • Evaluates and recommends policies and procedures that comply with accounting and financial regulatory bodies.
    • Performs technical research and writes position papers to ensure documentation of implemented policies and procedures, while assessing current processes and recommending process improvements.
    • Communicates, both in writing and verbally, to all levels of CPS Energy and external parties on theory and concepts that impact the organization.
    • Provides a high degree of service to CPS Energy internal customers by responding to financial and operating questions.
    • Performs other project and process improvement initiatives as assigned.
    Minimum Skills

    Personal Computer Usage

    Minimum Knowledge and Abilities

    Possess a valid driver's license with a history of a safe driving record in accordance with CPSE policies, procedures, safety standards, and applicable laws and regulations
    Experience in broad-ranging, hands-on experience in areas such as project management, program management, strategic planning, resource planning and budgeting.
    Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a particular field of specialization.
    Ability to set priorities, organize work and make occasional exceptions.
    Ability to work at any location at any time with extensive time in the field working with business areas
    Initiative to work independently or as a member of a team, coordinating with others to achieve desired results

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience as a financial/analyst in field supporting and providing technical and analytical solutions.
    • Experience with SAP, PeopleSoft, or Hyperion.

    Minimum Education

    Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with concentration in Finance, Accounting, Auditing or related field from an accredited university. or 90 hours of course credit AND currently enrolled in college working towards degree.

    Required Certifications

    Working Environment

    Indoor work, operating computer, manual dexterity, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Ability to travel between business related events. Work hours may be extended.
