- Must be able to independently perform PM's test, adjustments, repairs and inspections on overhead crane systems, trash compactors, conveyers, loading dock equipment and overhead doors
- Assembles and tests motor-control devices, switch panels, transformers, solenoids and other electrical equipment and components according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles
- Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on material handling equipment
- Participates in training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
- Maintains current product knowledge of our products
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
- Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment
- Loads and unloads equipment when requested
- Promotes and sells the service department to customers including service work, inspections, and parts to increase customer safety and satisfaction
- Mentors other less experienced service technicians
- Maintains a professional appearance including a clean uniform, haircut and good hygiene
- Follows all safety procedures and guidelines, and works in a safe manner
- Previous material handling equipment operation and repair experience.
- Ability to meet physical demands and duration of physical exertion generally required to perform tasks in support of all job functions, for example - sitting, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
- Knowledge of tools and techniques used to repair equipment.
- Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience in operating vehicles and equipment, including those used for diagnostic purposes.
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Associates degree in diesel technology or equivalent preferred.

A Service Technician independently performs basic diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned material handling equipment such as forklifts.
