Job Summary:

The Manager of Spiritual Care - University Hospital is responsible for supervising designated staff, triaging incoming referrals and deploying staff and volunteers. They will also be responsible for managing staffing issues, recruitment and retention of staff, and providing direct chaplaincy coverage in uncovered areas. The Manager of Spiritual Care may participate in ceremonial functions, lead and/or coordinate worship, offer religious rituals, facilitate spirituality groups, and serve on committees and task forces to represent the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in Divinity/Theology or equivalent, endorsement by one's faith group and a minimum of 2 years experience working in a clinical setting required. The ideal candidate will have 4 or more units (1600 hours) of Clinical Pastoral Education training from the ACPE. Must be a Board Certified Chaplain in either the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or National Association of Jewish Chaplains/NASHAMA. Supervisory experience required. Excellent written/oral and interpersonal skills and ability to be a team player required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to provide organizational management in a department of spiritual care, providing supervision and evaluation of staff and hands on management style that focuses on triaging and providing spiritual care to patients, families and staff. Demonstrated ability to set and achieve quality improvement goals that contribute towards departmental functioning. At least one year post receiving Board Chaplaincy Certification. Commitment to and love of providing direct spiritual care service. Ability to respond to Level I/II traumas, with demonstrated experience and expertise in all areas of the hospital. Demonstrated ability to develop and cultivate collegial relationships that benefit the department's functioning.
