    Job Description Job Description Endocrinologist - Internal Medicine PhysicianPOSITION SUMMARYThe endocrinologist will provide endocrinologic medical services for adult patients


    Services include:
    management of chronic and acute endocrinologic illnesses and health education pertaining to these illnesses.
    The mission of the St.

    Johns Community Health organization is to provide medical, dental and mental health services to underserved and uninsured persons in South and East Los Angeles.

    Physicians may be used in a variety of locations depending upon the need of the organization. Physicians work a five day-work week with monthly Saturday shifts. No inpatient services, hospital calls or rounds.

    Qualifications/LicensureMedical Degree (MD, DO)Internal medicine or Med+Peds residency graduate and board certification/eligibilityEndocrinology fellowship completion and board certification/eligibilityFamiliar with electronic health records (EHR)Basic computer skillsCA Medical License, DEA CertificateBLS certificateEmployees are responsible for maintaining individual certifications and licensures as required by job function or by law and provide verification when recertification occurs.

    ResponsibilitiesReviews patient file/record, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunization status.
    Elicits and records information about patients medical history.

    Perform appropriate physical examsOrders or executes various tests, analyses and diagnostic imaging as needed given patient presentationAnalyzes results and exam findings to make appropriate diagnoses.

    Administers or prescribes treatments.
    If required, prescribes medication, determining dosage and schedule given the patients condition and allergies.
    Discusses any possible side effects to medication or immunization with patient.
    Prescribes vaccinations to immunize patient from communicable diseases.
    Promotes health by advising patients about diet, hygiene and methods for prevention of disease.
    Performs procedures commensurate with training.
    Refers patients to medical specialists for consultant services when appropriate.
    Documents the patients visit including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses and plan of action.
    Follows up with patient regarding progress in high risk or emergency cases.
    Is committed to the mission of St. Johns via clinical involvement.
    Helps provide triage services and treatment services during disaster, per protocol.


    Physician goals:
    sees 18 patients per day subject to clinic goalsPhysician schedule: works twelve Saturdays per year, subject to clinic goalsPhysicians may work one late shift weekly (11am-7:30pm) and one Saturday monthly
