    The position is located at our headquarters in New York City and supports financial reporting of the business through reconciling, analyzing and reporting financial statement information at a Division level.

    Responsibilities

  • Review reporting of divisional results to ensure the compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Colgate Financial Policies (CFP's):

  • Conduct analytical review of financial statement trends: Income Statement (Other Expense/Income, Tax provision, etc.), Balance Sheet (Accounts Receivable, Inventory, CTA, etc.), Cash Flow Statement, and Key Financial Ratios.
  • Prepare divisional analytical summaries of the Cash Flow Statement. Strip out significant non-recurring or non-cash transactions from subsidiary Cash Flow Statements. Present results of review to Senior management and cross functional teams
  • Coordinate, review and implement the accounting for special transactions such as: acquisitions (purchase price accounting), divestments, changes in capital structure, loan repayments, etc.
  • Identify and understand implications of currency fluctuations on business results
  • Participate in key departmental projects: system upgrades, efficiency enhancements, implementation of new accounting standards, changes in reporting, etc.
  • Participate in accounting of Stock based compensation expense, disclosure, dilution and tax analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of reporting
  • Assist in the coordination of SOX Control testings for the team and provide support with external audit requests
  • Work on an Action Learning Project (ALP) to be assigned at the beginning of the internship and present results at the end of the internship
  • Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting and/or CPA/CMA ; graduate degree in accounting and/or certification preferred
  • At least 1-3 years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in system and data analysis required
  • Ability to work effectively in teams
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Availability to work locally

    Salary Range $28.75- $38.50 USD

    Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location.
